Passive fire PS3 reporting support

BAKKER PFI supports Auckland project teams with passive fire documentation and PS3 reporting enquiries. Ben Bakker is an Auckland Council PS3 author with practical passive fire installation experience. Contact Ben early to discuss the proposed work, relevant project requirements and the evidence needed. The appropriate reporting scope depends on the installation, the records available and the responsibilities of those carrying out the work.

Start with the project information

Useful information includes the building address, consent reference, relevant plans, fire report, specified systems and a description of the completed or proposed passive fire work. For existing installations, provide the installer details, installation dates and any previous inspection reports. Reviewing these records first helps identify missing information and establish whether the requested documentation is appropriate for the project. Any evidence gaps should be addressed before a certificate is expected.

Installation evidence and traceable records

Passive fire documentation may include a penetration register, location references, photographs, product and system references, and records of the actual installation conditions. Clear records connect the work on site with the relevant project information. Photographs taken before concealment can be particularly useful. Where access is limited or work has already been covered, further inspection or supporting information may be required to establish what can be responsibly reported.

Agree the scope before reporting

A PS3 enquiry does not guarantee that a producer statement can be issued. Ben will discuss who carried out the work, what can be verified and whether the available evidence supports the requested statement. Third-party inspection reports and condition surveys have their own defined scope and should not be assumed to provide installation certification. Any design questions or departures requiring design approval need to be resolved with the responsible project professionals.

Discuss your Auckland PS3 enquiry

Email Ben the project details and available records, or call to explain the situation before sending a large document set. We can discuss a review of the documentation, any inspection requirements and the next steps for your project. Clear expectations at the start help builders, installers and owners plan the records they need. Fees, scope and deliverables are agreed for the particular enquiry before work proceeds.
